IBM’s Smarter Cities Campaign Conjures Up Conspiracy Theories

Multinational technology and consulting firm, IBM, launched its Smarter Cities campaign in 2010 to tackle issues faced in urban development. IBM invited 100 cities from around the world to participate and solve problems on topics such as natural resources, education, social services, health, safety and economic development, to name a few. Each city that participated in the Smarter Cities Challenge received a grant from IBM. However, this philanthropic idea is slowly backfiring.

In the latest video, IBM commented on how it wants to help build ‘smarter and simpler’ cities for the future using the innovative technology we have now. Nevertheless, conspiracy enthusiasts see the underlying message as a large corporation wishing to takeover the world – one city at a time. IBM’s thoughts of networking citizens with the city has skeptics pointing to the Illuminatiwanting to control the people.
