Designer Wants You To Buy A $300,000 T-Shirt To Save A Child In Africa

UNICEF has teamed up with artist-designers Justin and Christine Gignac to create this special series of t-shirts to raise funds for charity. Each tee has a different graphic that represents what the money goes to when you buy it through the Threadless online store. When buyers get a peanut image print, their money goes to supplying ready to eat therapeutic food to children in the Horn of Africa. Other options include a water pump for $500 and an airlift for $300,000. All monies go to the UNICEF USA Fund.

For the campaign, the Gignacs borrowed from their previous work ‘Wants For Sale’ where they made art of the items they wanted and sold them for the price they could buy the goods at. In Justin Gignac’s talk at PSFK CONFERENCE NYC 2012, he explained that as the campaign progressed they looked at more intangible concepts.
