Content Marketing Platform For Publishers And Freelance Writers

Contently‘s founders, Joe Coleman, Shane Snow and David Goldberg, launched the site in open beta in April 2011. The New York City-based start-up is a platform for journalists and bloggers to manage their freelance careers and publishers to source professional writers. The “anti-content-farm” is optimized for brands and forward-thinking agencies who want to commission magazine-quality writing. Contently’s network offers writers a place to showcase their work. There is a free Automatic Portfolio Builder and a platform where they can apply to write for publishers.

Writers from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired and The Boston Globe are already managing their careers on the site, and its featured publishers include CBS, Comcast, Best Buy and Mint. Shane Snow said:

It gives publishers and brands access to a professional, scalable writing workforce at lower cost than in-house, and it gives freelance writers opportunities to get paid well to do what they love.
