Shepard Fairey Covers New Jersey With Street Art

Street Artist Shepard Fairey covered Asbury Park, New Jersey, with his iconic style of street art. Buildings around the Sunset Pavilion featured murals, stencil paintings and large wheatpasted posters. Fairey’s efforts were part of the independent ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ music festival presented by All Tomorrow’s Parties. Fairey explained that his Asbury Park artworks are “all tributes to music and the influence that music has had on me.”

Fairey is a prominent artist based in L.A. and his works like the ‘Obey Giant’ graphic can be seen all over the world. Fairey rose to mainstream popularity when he created the Barack Obama ‘Hope’ poster.

Watch the short documentary below to see how Fairey put together his artworks for the I’ll Be Your Mirror festival.
