Union Square In Motion: MTA’s Underground Interactive Installation

A new interactive installation offers riders a break from all the hustle and bustle of one of New York’s busiest subway stations.

Union Square in Motion consists of nine sets of abstract images projected onto two digital lenticular linear zoetropes, creating an animated illusion for passers-by. Created by three Parsons students, three Parsons’ Alumni, and New York City’s Submedia LLC Advertising, the project is a continuation of MTA’s ‘Bryant Park in Motion’ installation last year.

With 34,730,692 passing through the subway station last year, the public intervention is hoping to make the subway experience ‘a little more interesting and enjoyable.’
