Facebook Copies Twitter & Google+ With New Subscription Feature

Facebook is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to ‘subscribe’ to certain updates from friends and even strangers. Facebook Subscriptions acts almost like Twitter and Google+. Instead of following someone or adding them to a circle, you can simply subscribe to random strangers and have their updates appear on your News Feed without being their friend. Of course, you can only see what the other person is willing to share publicly.

Furthermore, Facebook Subscription will provide you with more control over what you want to see from friends. On your friend’s profile, you can choose to receive updates on Life Events, Status Updates, Photos and Videos or Games. If you don’t want to be annoyed with Farmville updates from a certain friend, now you can easily turn those updates off.

Facebook has said that this feature will not bombard your notifications, instead working intelligently to provide relevant notifications.
