Macy’s announces 2011 holiday rewards program

Macy’s has launched its ninth annual national Thanks For Sharing holiday rewards program, which allows customers to give back to charities in their communities.  Thanks For Sharing has supported communities nationwide with donations of more than $80 million.

“Macy’s Thanks For Sharing campaign continues to thrive as one of our most popular rewards programs and is a key initiative for our holiday season,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s senior vice president of marketing. “Thanks For Sharing represents the combined efforts of our customers, associates and charity partners and has made great strides in raising much needed funds for organizations in communities across the country, each of which counts on Macy’s financial contributions.”

Thanks For Sharing debuted as a key Macy’s initiative in 2003, offering a program from which customers benefit during the holiday season but from which charities benefit throughout the year. For a one-time $25 enrollment fee, Macy’s cardholders can earn rewards equal to 10 percent of most Macy’s and macys.com purchases made with their Macy’s credit card from the time of their enrollment through Dec. 31, 2011. For each Thanks For Sharing program member, Macy’s makes a $10 donation, up to a total of $15 million, to designated charities. Upon enrollment, customers will begin earning 10 percent rewards on their qualified Macy’s purchases that are made on their enrolled Macy’s credit cards through the end of the year.
